In a case that exemplifies the outrageous behavior parents are capable of today a couple from Irvine, California have been arrested for setting up a school volunteer by planting drugs in her car and then calling police to report the woman. This act was supposed to be payback because the couple did not believe their son was properly supervised while at school by the specific volunteer. Jill and Kent Easter each face two felony charges, one for false imprisonment and one one for felony conspiracy. What makes the story even worse is that both parents are lawyers and should know the law clearly in this matter. Many people suffer from substance abuse issues and to try and portray the volunteer as one of these individuals and have her criminally charged for drugs is reprehensible.
Apparently the Easters were upset about how this volunteer supervised the children and decided to teach her a lesson. Kent Easter hid drugs in the volunteer’s car while she was at the elementary school that his son attended. Kent placed marijuana and a pipe to smoke the drug as well as prescription narcotic pain medications that require a valid prescription to possess. Kent Easter then went to a nearby motel and used the pay phone to call the police, reporting that he witnessed the volunteer hide the drugs in her car. The volunteer was initially arrested but was later proved to be at the school when the alleged incident was witnessed. According to the Irvine Police Lt. Julia Engen the volunteer was completely surprised by the drugs uncovered. “She was shocked. She had no idea where those items came from. Things just didn’t seem to add up.” Police backtracked and discovered that Kent Easter had made the call and the investigation followed from there.
