The warning signs of Anorexia Nervosa can range from mild to severe, but there are some symptoms that parents and family members should watch for and recognize. Many people have died from this eating disorder and treatment needs to be sought as soon as possible in order to prevent health problems or even a fatal outcome. Someone with Anorexia Nervosa has a body image that is not real, they will see themselves as obese even as they waste away to nothing but skin and bones.   • Obsessive calorie counting is one of the warning signs of Anorexia Nervosa. The person may only eat one small meal a day, sometimes even less, and they are worried about every single calorie that they consume.

  • Being on a constant diet can be one of the warning signs of Anorexia Nervosa, especially if the person is not overweight.
  • Failing to eat at meals, planning and making elaborate dishes that the person does not eat, and avoiding mealtimes spent with others are all typical warning signs of Anorexia Nervosa. A lack of menstrual cycle can occur if the nutritional needs of the body are not being met.
  • Exercising all the time is also one of the warning signs of Anorexia Nervosa, because the person is trying to burn off the perceived fat and get thinner.
